Caring for Your New Floors
Cleaning has never been easier!

KEEP YOUR NEW FLOORS LOOKING GREAT
Luxury vinyl flooring is durable and easy to maintain, but it is not scratch proof nor damage proof. Use these best practices for regular care and maintenance to keep your floors looking great for years to come.
DO
Do remove loose dirt with a soft bristle broom.
Do clean with warm water and a soft damp mop for everyday care.
Do wash with a gentle and non-abrasive cleaner made for your flooring type.
DO NOT
Do not use detergents, abrasive cleaners, or oil based products. These will leave a dull film behind.
Do not use ammonia, vinegar, or bleach.
Do not use a mop with an abrasive or "scrubbing" pad.
Do not use a vacuum with the roller brush engaged. Use the hard surface or "bare floor" setting to avoid damage.
Do not use a steam mop to clean as the high temperature will cause damage to the flooring.
PREVENTING SCUFFS
Furniture legs can scuff or mark flooring. Use soft padded protectors where furniture contacts the floor. For heavy furniture and appliances that do not move frequently, use rubber furniture casters or cups where they meet the floor. Never push, pull, or drag furniture, appliances, or other heavy items across the floor. Always lift and carry.
EXTRA PROTECTION
Invest in high-quality floor mats or area rugs [non-rubber-backed] for an added layer of protection. Place them at entrances and exists to collect and trap corrosive substances that can be tracked in, such as dirt, salt, sand, and rocks.
ACCIDENTS HAPPEN
Here's How to Handle Spills and Stains
To keep your floors looking their best, always use a clean white cloth when cleaning up spots or spills. For most stains, gently scrub with a non-abrasive white scrubbing pad and warm, soapy water.
- For pen and marker marks, start by blotting with a damp white cloth and a small amount of mild dish soap. Rinse with clean water and dry with a soft cloth
- For rust stains, apply citrus-based cleaner to a clean cloth, gently rub the area, then rinse and dry thoroughly.
- Paint, nail polish, and wood varnish can stain your flooring if they dry. To treat these, start by gently rubbing the area with a soft eraser to loosen the residue. If needed, apply a small amount of citrus-based cleaner to a clean white cloth and rub gently. Rinse with water and dry with a soft cloth.
- For sticky substances like gum, oil, wax, glue, or tar, carefully life what you can using your fingernails or a plastic scraper. Then clean the area with a white scrubbing pad and warm, soapy water. Rinse and dry completely.
